Behind the sprawling forested area of Sitio Danao, Malapoc Norte lies a man-made lagoon known to the locals as Lake Lanao.

Situated at 360 meters above sea level and 15 km away from the Maasin City proper, the lake centers around Damian’s Peak, still another attraction, another wonder in an already wonderful place.

Overall, rocks, wood and water, brooded the spirit of repose, and the silent enerty of nature stirred the soul to its innermost depths.

One can find lush vegetation, wildlife cavorting with the cascading mountain waterfalls and chirping birds, in this completely wild and dreamlike part of nature that Maasin City offers.

After every wave, regardless of how high and forceful it crests, must eventually collapse within itself.
After every storm the sun will smile; for the man sound of body and serene of mind there is no such thing as bad weather; every day has its beauty.

These are wave breakers made of concretes.
They are put along the main coastal areas of Brgy. Mambajao, Maasin City to block big waves and currents, and make the sea water more calm and safe to the local fishermen.

After 2 days of roaming around the South and Western coast of Leyte,
I finally got the chance to take a photo of this perfect sunset location in Brgy. Itum, the Municipality of Matalom.

Matalom borders Bato in the north and Maasin City in the south.
It was said that the Spaniards once saw the flaming red of the fire trees that dotted the shores of Matalom Beach and asked the natives the local dialect for “hermosa” or beautiful. The natives answered “Matahum” or “Matalom.” This was the origin of the town’s name..

Faith healing is healing through spiritual means. Believers assert that the healing of a person can be brought about by religious faith through prayer and/or rituals that, according to adherents, stimulate a divine presence and power toward correcting disease and disability.

Just another Sunday photowalk down the streets of Cebu, with old friends, and a new one…

Lola Inday, not her real name, is a 60+ year old faith healer. She did not give the exact number and jokingly said that she already forgot her age. :)) She’s been treating patients for over 15 years now, according to her, many were cured and there were also those ‘non-believers’ who were not. “Depende man gud na sa pagtuo sa isa ka tawo, dong”, lola Inday said.
Behind her in the photo is a 5-year apprentice who helped her in faith healing during weekends.

The Old Mactan Bridge or popularly called The First Mactan-Mandaue Bridge is the first of two bridges spanning across the Mactan Channel and connecting the islands of Cebu and Mactan.

The construction began in 1970, during the term of the late President Ferdinand Marcos, a year after the declaration of Mandaue as a chartered city. Inaugurated on July 4, 1971 and was finished in 1972 at a cost of 65 million pesos.

The bridge was designed and created wholly by Filipino engineers.
